Abstract

Wrinkles remain a primary concern for aesthetic patients, as wrinkles are often one of the first visible signs of ageing. Aesthetic practitioners need to have a thorough understanding of the different interventions available for this indication, as well as the role of intrinsic and extrinsic factors of ageing and the impact they will have on treatment outcomes. This paper provides an overview of some popular treatment modalities for the reduction of facial wrinkles. The paper is mainly focused on the use of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers; however, several treatment modalities, such as radiofrequency and ultrasound, are also examined. Other considerations, such as body image and holistic patient assessment, are also explored.
