Abstract

The aim of the article was to examine the impact of the Basel III regulations on the sector of co-operative banks in Poland. First, the regulations were characterized and the outcomes presented. The considerations indicate that the Basel III regulations will force co-operative banks to become consolidated, which will result in a strengthened position of the co-operative banking sector in direct competition with commercial banks.
