Abstract

The challenges in implementing green healthcare and green hospitals can vary considerably based on the part of the world where the healthcare facilities are located. Challenges include government regulations, the cost of electricity, and the social/political environment relating to the environment and energy efficiency. The first few chapters discussed the different aspects of green healthcare. The case studies in this chapter include green healthcare for countries around the world, including countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America. Case studies for hospitals in the United States were discussed in Chap. 10. Although the social and political environments of the particular country do have an impact on implementing green healthcare, the technical challenges remain the same. The significant value in looking at green healthcare case studies should be to take advantage of lessons learned.
