Abstract

Worldcrunch is a curated collection of international news stories from over 40 countries and 15 languages, translated into English by multilingual journalists. Based out of Paris, France, Worldcrunch was launched in 2011 and was traditionally focused on individual subscribers. However, this year Worldcrunch is prioritizing institutional site licenses. Worldcrunch is designed as a day-to-day news source rather than as a research database. Searching, printing, and downloading capabilities are limited, but Worldcrunch provides many ways to browse for articles, and an advanced search feature is forthcoming. Thankfully, no advertisements are visible to subscribers, unlike with many US-based newspapers. Pricing is reasonable for both individuals and institutions, and the insight into international news is unbeatable. This comes from the combination of news stories written by local journalists, English translation by multilingual journalists, and an editorial staff with a keen eye for stories that have a commonality to readers across all cultures.
