At the global level, the system of higher education of the Russian Federation is affected by trends in political, economic, social, cultural and information technology. As early as in the twentieth century, it was possible to distinguish the influence of each of the trends on the education system and to characterize the impact of each of them. In the modern world, the processes of globalization and internationalization, which affect each of the macro-trends, come first. Accordingly, macro-trends are considered in the analysis of their impact on the education system. In the research, within the framework of the methodology for highlighting the main trends, the Russian education system is considered element-wise, which includes higher education institutions, lecturers, students, IT environment of the university, and their characteristics. Among the main results, trends shaping education of the present and near future are revealed, which change the system of higher education in the Russian Federation in the context of Global Crisis Management: internationalization of the educational environment, including programs and conditions for their implementation; simultaneous existence of two realities: on-line and off-line; Project education; Gaming. World trends shaping education are a necessity that should be taken into account when forming the development pathway of the higher education system in the Russian Federation, especially in the context of Global Crisis Management. Adherence to trends shaping education helps to form a stable education system, flexibly reacting to global and local changes. When developing programs for strategic and innovative development, universities need to draw on trends, which should be the criteria for selecting each management decision in a modern university. A special place is taken by the formation of the entrepreneurial university or transformation of the classical Russian university into it, and development characteristics and directions determine and will determine world trends.
