Abstract

The main bodies are the Commissions on Faith and Order, on Education and Ecumenical Formation, of the Churches on International Affairs, the CWME, and the ECHOS Commission on Youth in the Ecumenical Movement. The World Council of Churches (WCC's) activities are focused on the following programme areas: Unity, Mission and Ecumenical Relations; Public Witness and Diakonia; and Ecumenical Formation. The WCC, through the Commissions on Faith and Order and on World Mission and Evangelism, aims to promote a 'visible unity' among member churches and to encourage them to address potentially divisive issues and develop mutually acceptable positions. In November the WCC Executive Committee issued a formal statement in which it emphasized the urgency of, and urged accountability in addressing, the global climate crisis, noting that the 'time for debate and disputation of established scientific facts is long over'. The main contributors to the WCC's budget are the churches and their agencies, with funds for certain projects contributed by other organizations.
