Abstract

The US Geodynamics Committee convened a Workshop on the National Geomagnetic Initiative 16–20 March 1992 at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. A diverse group of geomagnetic field specialists assembled at the Academy’s Georgetown offices for the purpose of identifying and prioritizing current outstanding research questions relating to the Earth’s magnetic field. In particular, the group attempted to identify and elucidate those research questions which overlap and affect multiple geomagnetic subdisciplines, thus (hopefully) permitting future investigations to be better focused and optimizing the scientific return from future research expeditions.
