Abstract

In 1972, at the 24th International Geological Congress, the International Union of Geological Sciences under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) established the International Geological Correlation Program (IGCP). The IGCP was to study the relationship between theoretical and practical geological problems through international cooperation.
