Abstract

This study aims to analyze the changes and characteristics of workplace bullying by examining news articles in the media before and after the implementation of the Labor Standards Act workplace bullying prohibition system, which was enforced in 2019. In particular, big data news analysis was attempted using BIGKinds, the integrated database of news articles from the largest in Korea provided by the Korea Press Foundation. As a result of the analysis, firstly, it was found that from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2022, there were 1,353 press articles on bullying at work, showing a 6.8-fold increase from 42 in 2017 to 286 in 2022. This highlights the persistent issue of human rights violations in the workplace despite the implementation of the revised Labor Standards Act.
