Abstract

This chapter delves into the important topic–working with the right team on your academic project. It explores how to choose the right team for your project and how to deal with those difficult people that you will have encountered or may meet in the future. We cover a range of issues that arise in the course of managing diverse teams and working with industry, government and non-government funders or partners. We examine the involvement of non-academic team members and provide a series of tips for bringing staff onto a project and for managing their departure. We look at how you can ensure a positive experience for team members by making their most of their strengths and offering opportunities for them to fill gaps in their expertise or skills.
