Abstract
Summary In this article I hope to share some ideas about the impossible nature of the exclusive-ness of theories, using extracts from my work with a family in a Department of Child and Family Psychiatry, where these ideas began to develop. I found it helped me in my work with this family to explore these ideas further through live supervision, discussion with colleagues and reading.
