Abstract

This research explores Vietnamese librarian’ skills regarding age, gender, management levels, and educational background in private business school libraries. Two hundred one Vietnamese staff in private business school libraries are surveyed to fulfill this objective. Levene’s test, analysis of variance, and paired t-test are used to explore whether there is a difference in respondents’ answers based on gender, age, education, and managerial level. The findings indicate that education and maturity age make a difference in the working skills of Vietnamese librarians. In other words, the results concerning working skills are partially approved by those with a more mature age and more formal education. This research strengthens the social exchange theory about working skills in Vietnamese business school librarians, particularly the first-known research measuring this issue. The current situation calls for introducing organizational systems on corporate skills and providing the necessary skills to boost working efficiency in Vietnamese private business school libraries. Therefore, this research is essential in its field.
