Abstract

Red mud-based grouting materials (RGM) have great application potential in disaster prevention, underground engineering control and other fields. In order to improve the mechanical strength and corrosion resistance of grouting materials, the influence of ultrafine admixtures on the properties of matrix materials was studied by adding 2 wt% − 10 wt% ultrafine limestone (UL) and ultrafine quartz (UQ). In addition, a mechanical damage model is established. The experimental results show that the mechanical strength of the slurry matrix is significantly improved by the addition of ultrafine admixtures. When the content of UL is 6 wt%, the maximum increase of compressive strength reaches 54.5%. The micro analysis shows that the superfine admixture has the filling effect in the matrix and provides the hydration site. The research results provide a theoretical guidance for the development of cost-effective and environment-friendly grouting materials and the improvement of the utilization rate of red mud (RM).
