Abstract

The discussion provoked by Andre Gorz's Adieux au proletariat, and by Alain Touraine's L 'Apres-Socialisme has revived the question of the role of the working class in the anti-capitalist struggle. At a time when the importance of the social movements is increasingly recognized, and the demands expressed by them considered as important in the definition of a socialist project, it is urgent to pose the problem of the articulation between these new types of struggle and those of the working class.
