Abstract

The Communist victory in Yugoslavia set the stage for the development of a far-reaching system of adult and workers' education. The late 1940s and early 1950s were years of political consolidation and experimentation. By the late 1950s, the Yugoslav system of adult education began to take form. The need and intention to educate the working people were clearly expressed by the vice-president of the Federal Executive Council in 1958:
