Abstract
It should be clear that reentry intervals are not chemical or agricultural standards. They are health standards. The subject, however, has been worked on mostly by entomologists, chemists, and agriculturalists rather than health professionals. It might be well, therefore, to discuss some of the special characteristics of health standards, and particularly of occupational health standards, that distinguish them from other types of regulations.
