Abstract

The torque on a current loop in a uniform magnetic field were discussed in great detail (Young and Geller 2006 College Physics 8th edn (San Francisco CA: Addison-Wesley) p 673; Serway and Faughn 2003 College Physics 6th edn (Pacific Grove, CA: Thomson Learning) p 595). In this work, we use work-energy principles by an external couple on a square loop generator and show that it is consistent with the electrical power generated in a simple square loop in a uniform magnetic field. This simple generator approach makes it clearer in explaining the Faraday–Lenz’s law from the power generated by an external torque.
