Abstract

This article presents a strategy that shows that simulation-based gaming can be used to educate in-plant management and staff as well as industrial engineering students in the work sampling technique. A functional simulation game is developed through narrative and flow charts that will give students a better understanding of the many variables inherent in a work sampling study. The simulation-based learning experiences permits many of the decisions made in a real work sampling study to be made in just minutes on a CRT or teletype, in contrast to days or even weeks of real time under actual study conditions.
