Abstract

Positron work functions have been calculated for various metallic elements. The experimental values of the electronic work functions and the positron lifetimes were used in order to eliminate the surface dipole barrier and the electron-positron correlation, respectively. In addition, the effective mass of positrons in these metals was calculated, including the effect of positron-plasmon interactions. The results are presented along with available experimental results.
