Abstract

A simple model describing the changes in work function produced by chemisorption on a surface possessing two types of adsorption sites is presented. Equations for the change in work function as a function of the amount of gas adsorbed are given, and curves for the cases of CO and N2 adsorbed on the (113) plane of tungsten are compared with recent experimental results.
