Abstract
Abstract In this work the sensitivity of pure and metal nanoparticles functionalized WO3 thick films towards hydrocarbon-mix (HC-Mix) has been studied based on work function readout by means of Kelvin Probe technique. Measurements have been performed in synthetic air and dry nitrogen atmosphere in the temperature range between 25° and 200 °C. The strongest signals were achieved with PtPd-nanoparticles functionalized WO3 thick layers at 120-140 °C. The influence of oxygen on the sensing mechanism has been discussed.
