Abstract

In this cross-divisional symposium submitted to the organizational behavior, human resources management and international management divisions of the Academy of Management for the annual conference in 2015, we explore the various facets of what family conflict research for the past thirty years. In addition, we explore the implications of these research findings for the era of globalization. As the world globalizes rapidly, the pattern of work/family conflict are going to become similar across dissimilar nations and cultures. In other words, economic prosperity and rapid integration of various economies are going to create work pressures in all kinds of global organizations which will then be passed on to the employees and then work-family conflict will result. We explore the role of cultural variations and an individual level construct called occupational resilience in moderating the relationship between work and family domains.
