Abstract
This year we commemorate the tercentenary of the death of one of the most famous poets of the Dutch Golden Age, and for that reason 1987 has been proclaimed a memorial year for Constantijn Huygens, or, if you so wish, Sir Constantine Huygens, because he was raised to knighthood by James I in 1622, during one of the periods that he stayed at the British Court in the retinue of the Dutch ambassador.
