Abstract

The Wonca Working Party on Women and Family Medicine (WWPWFM) was established at the 16th International Conference of Wonca in Durban, in 2001. The aim of the Working Party is to take a leadership role in advocating for the concerns raised by women doctors and women’s health in family medicine/general practice. In order to achieve their goals they promote the role of women family doctors to highlight their special contributions and reduce the barriers facing them, thereby enabling them to reach their full potential and enhance the contributions of family physicians/GPs around the world to clinical care, women’s health, education, research and leadership in family medicine. The 2010-2103 Action plan gives priority to providing gender equity in following Wonca Scientific Meetings. By this purpose “Gender Equity Standards for Wonca Scientific Meetings” was prepared by WWPWFM in its mid triennial meeting in Norwich, UK in July 2, 2009, and accepted by Wonca Council in 2010. As Wonca Europe 2015 will be held in Istanbul, this text is translated into Turkish by the support and permission of WWPWFM and it is recommended to be considered while organizing national or international Wonca compatible conferences.
