Abstract

Background: Women with gynecologic cancers have significant social support needs. Currently, options for support include support groups and counseling. Woman to Woman (W2W) is a program supported by The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) that pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained volunteer survivors who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring. Woman to Woman also promotes education and self-advocacy for women in treatment, as well as their partners, families, and other caregivers, at participating facilities. The objective of our study was to identify the frequency of mentoring meetings and the preferred communication method among mentors and mentees participating in the Woman to Woman Program.
