Abstract

ABSTRACTConsistently since 2005, women have obtained more doctorate degrees than men. However, women of color comprise 8% of full-time faculty and 4% of full-time professor. Diverse faculty and student body creates rich learning environments. This article describes the challenges women of color encounter as both students and faculty members within marriage and family therapy training programs, highlights the unique contributions that women of color bring into the academia, and discusses steps that can be taken to increase diverse student and faculty representation in marriage and family therapy training programs.
