Abstract

After a decade, it was a thrill to host the IEEE Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC) in Australia again. This time, the location was Brisbane, the largest city in Queensland, strategically located a 1-h flight between Sydney and Cairnes. Brisbane hosts the University of Queensland (UQ), one of the most prestigious universities in the country. At the UQ, the Faculty of Engineering is ranked five out of five and demonstrates keen interest and success in high-frequency engineering. The gates to Australian wildlife exploration also open from Brisbane. Tourists have an easy journey to Cairnes from Brisbane. No doubt, if you had to take a long-haul, 14-h flight from the west coast of the United States and even a 9-h trip from Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, or Tokyo, you would probably consider visiting the Great Barrier Reef, a must-see at least once.
