Abstract

We are living in a transitional age, the transition being from farming society to current industrial society. Females constitute nearly half of the population of male dominant society and the inequalities based on gender seem unfair in India. It is a fact that women’s participation is very poor in trade and commerce. It is very fundamental to have participation by women in activities strengthening their position in society. They may get empowered by creating innovations and commercializing them. They can organize some sort of self help group or working as entrepreneurships. The empowerment of women may help them to enjoy their social, economical, civil and political rights. For overall empowerment and the inclusive growth, it is needed participation of women into economic too. Women proved themselves as good creators and innovators. Women participation in commerce certainly enhances the economic status of the nation. Research, development and innovations particularly in the field of science & technology are key drivers of the development of nation and overall empowerment and inclusive growth. Particularly, intellectual properties are crucial to stimulate economic growth by commercializing innovations and new technologies. The protection of research output and innovations and its technology transfer and commercialization attract investment including foreign direct investment. The commercialization of intellectual property help in improving the quality of life of the creators and the innovators which including the women too. It is believe that women are good in creation and innovation but it is sad to see the figure of such intellectual property registration with the concern authorities like copyright, patent and design offices. Creating intellectual property through innovations and technological change, protecting it by IP rights and its commercialization may be of immense value for achieving overall development. Various supports are being provided for the women empowerment, including skill development, projects, funding, technology, infrastructure etc by both government and non-government agencies. Women empowerment and the inclusive growth needed focus on increasing women’s access to education, training, financing, technology, infrastructure etc. Such business opportunities efforts may help to fill the gender gap to some extent. Further, the empowerment of women may be promoted by their leadership, adequate jobs, developing entrepreneurship, capacity building. In view of various initiatives in the subject, now time reap to implement such initiatives. This paper discusses some aspects of it.
