Abstract

The article deals with issues related to changes in the structure of workers at industrial enterprises that occurred with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. On the basis of archival sources and previously published documents, the main directions and features of personnel retraining for the industry of the Chuvash ASSR in the current situation are identified. The influence of historical conditions on the change in the nature of women’s employment is revealed, when women and children who mastered male professions were able to replace the personnel workers of industrial enterprises of the republic at the front. In the most difficult conditions, women participate in the launch of enterprises evacuated to the territory of the republic, adjust newly arriving equipment. The authors analyze how, along with men, women who have only recently completed training and started working, take an active part in various socialist competitions held at industrial enterprises of the republic. The authors come to the conclusion that women, overcoming the difficulties that fell on their shoulders with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, did everything for four years to provide the front with what was needed for Victory.
