Abstract

This article focuses on female employment preferences and summarizes the results of a questionnaire distributed to a sample of nonmetropolitan men and women. Although differences in men's and women's employment preferences do exist, a sizable percentage of nonmetropolitan women indicate an interest in traditionally male, blue-collar jobs. In addition, women who hold or have held traditionally male jobs generally have positive comments about their experience.
