Abstract

The subject of women in higher education has received considerable attention and Jasbir Kaur noted that the status of women has been well monitored and considerable research undertaken to identify factors that work against women’s advancement in the higher education sector. Many countries have legislated and put affirmative action in place to assist academic women advance. Today we are much better informed about the status of women and what causes women to improve their career prospects. Jasbir gave an overview of all the current status of women in Asian countries in higher education institutions. Some country comparisons were made, factors disabling women were identified, some of the real inequities women experienced were noted and strategies to improve the status of women in higher education management were made.
