Abstract

A healthy 20-year-old nonpregnant woman presented to the emergency department with one day of fever and dysuria. Her temperature was 38.4 °C (101 °F), and she had right costovertebral angle tenderness. Laboratory investigations showed an increased C-reactive protein level (5.8 mg/dL), leukocytosis (WBC count 13,760/μl), and pyuria. Point-of-care ultrasonography (Figures 1 and 2) and abdominal computed tomography with contrast (Figure 3) were performed.
