Abstract

The article discusses the key dilemmas facing contemporary labour pedagogy in a historical context. One of them is the dispute about who is the precursor of this scientific sub-discipline. Attempts were made to justify that it is Stanisław Staszic, who, through his entire activity, system of values and life attitude, displayed categories and values close to or identical to the currently exposed subject of work pedagogy. In the case of contemporary dilemmas, the issue of the lack of adequacy of the research subject of this sub-discipline to its scientific achievements was raised, as well as the fact that higher education was omitted in the areas of interest and research in labour pedagogy, although these schools provide professional qualifications and prepare people to function on the labour market. The article also contains information on the state of the literature on labour pedagogy and the increase in the number of universities providing education in the field of pedagogy.
