Abstract

From a historical perspective, the rise of women in law is a success story. Despite late admission, women now account for more than 50 percent of law students. However, this percentage of women in the under-graduate group is not reflected at the professorial level. This paper attempts to identify and evaluate some of the reasons for the decline in the proportion of women with increasing career levels. Point of approach is an overall view of the academic career path, beginning with the structueres of university education and ending with individual aspects of the academic career path from the perspective of gender equality.
