Abstract

Renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury following shock states or orthotopic kidney transplantation frequently causes tissue damage or delayed graft function, respectively, potentially leading to increased morbidity and mortality for patients. The Wnt/B-catenin signaling pathway has been implicated in playing a critical role in nephrogenesis, recovery from acute renal failure, and renal ischemic resistance. Wnt agonist is a synthetic, modified pyrimidine compound that can stimulate the transcription of Wnt target genes in cell culture.
