Abstract

This paper proposes an information hiding technique using the concept of the modified least significant bit substitution (MLSBS). The proposed technique utilizes the XOR feature of the original image (OI) pixel for embedding the secret bits. At the embedding end, the last three LSBs of the OI image pixels are considered for finding the featured bits. The obtained bits are replaced with the least significant bit (LSB) of each pixel. The proposed MLSBS technique does not directly embed the secret bits, therefore, it produces a superior quality of stego-image (SI) compared to other existing state-of-art LSBS based techniques. Experiment results show that the proposed MLSBS technique does not only improve the peak-signal-to noise ratio (PSNR) of the SI but also robust to various stego-attacks.
