Abstract

Abstract Far-infrared (IR) reflection bands are caused by polar lattice vibration absorption and are generally considered to be closely related to dielectric properties but not to crystal structures. However, a relationship was observed between far-IR active phonon modes and crystal structures of A(B’ 1/3 B’’ 2/3 )O 3 ceramics because of the appearance of a new mode. This short review summarizes the relationship between far-IR modes and crystal structures of A(B’ 1/3 B’’ 2/3 )O 3 ceramics.
