Abstract

Next generation heterogeneous wireless networks have to meet the fast-growing demands and allow optimal use of the available resources. Cooperative communication based on a relaying system has emerged as a new, promising solution to greater coverage, utilization of resources and reduced risk of outages. In the heterogeneous wireless world in multi-hop, giving optimal communication by allowing node cooperation dramatically increases throughput. Relay selection has a major effect on enhancing a network’s performance in recent development with cooperative communication. Cooperative communication has many advantages, particularly in wireless networks based on surveillance, in replacing existing direct communication and relay selection is generally considered as an intelligent option to boost capacity efficiency. In this paper, a novel method for relay selection in cooperative communication is proposed and compared with conventional methods. This is also observed that the schemes proposed are outperforming current approaches to relay selection in terms of throughput.
