Abstract

Abstract In order to analyze the variation of urban road traffic condition, the set pair analysis is used in this study to evaluate traffic conditions. First, traffic saturation degree, delay time proportion, and average travel speed are used as criteria for road traffic condition. Set pairs (An, Bn) are then established based on the real data and evaluation criteria. Considering discrepancy degree, the calculation model of the connection number is established. In order to incorporate micro uncertainty, a new method for calculating the difference coefficient is proposed. Using the section of south second ring road in Xi'an, China as a case study, the road traffic condition during 16:30 pm and 19:30 pm is evaluated. The results show that the evaluation based on set-pair analysis changes more smoothly and can better reflect the changing process of road traffic condition.
