Abstract

Abstract Background A major factor in male infertility is semen abnormality, including reduced sperm concentration (oligozoospermia) and normal sperm morphology (teratozoospermia). This study aimed to develop a new treatment for this dysfunction. We studied the effect of Hoixuanhoan (HXH) remedy on sperm concentration and morphology in men with oligozoospermia and/or teratozoospermia (oligoteratozoospermia). Methods The study group comprised 51 infertile male patients, aged 18–56 years. Patients took HXH remedy at a dose of 0.3 g/kg for 60 consecutive days. Semen was examined prior to medication and 90 days after the first capsule. Results After 60 consecutive days of oral administration, sperm concentration increased from 14.06 × 10 6 /mL to 24.01 × 10 6 /mL, approximately 98,310.68% ( p p Conclusion HXH remedy demonstrated considerable improvement in sperm concentration and normal sperm morphology in infertile male patients with oligozoospermia and/or teratozoospermia (oligoteratozoospermia).
