Abstract
As the Vehicles count increases day by day, it has become a cumbersome effort to find a vacant parking slot in-order to park the vehicles safely. Parking cars arbitrarily can cause serious traffic congestion and consumes a lot of time. The existing parking solutions use sensors to detect available parking slots which is inefficient because they have less shell life, installation is difficult, hard to maintain and also causes damage to roads. Proposed parking occupancy monitoring system provides a structured solution that uses camera across the parking lots to capture the parking lots and uses image processing to detect available free parking slots from the image based on on-time request received from the user. From the processed image the free slot availability is made to the user which is in the proximity of user and made the user reservation locked. Proposed system increases the overall efficiency of current parking systems and manages the traffic congestion effectively.
