Abstract

A new lanthanide coordination polymer (CP) was achieved via the hydrothermal condition of Ho(III) ion that combines with 3,4′-oxybis(benzoate) (3,4′-oba), oxalate (ox) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen). Furthermore, the novel compounds were assessed for their therapeutic activity in breast cancer and their mechanism of action was also discussed. First, the proliferation of the MDA-MB-453 (a kind of breast cancer cell) was evaluated via the CCK-8 detection kit. Besides, the PI-3K/AKT signal path activity was evaluated via real time RT-PCR assay. Further investigations performed by molecular docking suggested that only the carboxyl groups played significant role in the anticancer activity, while the phenanthroline groups only supported the formation of the structure of designed metal complex. Above all, the compound exhibited anti-breast cancer activity to reduce the PI-3K/AKT signaling pathway activity.
