Abstract

The article explores the coronavirus pandemic as a potential trigger of substantial changes in climate protection. In particular, it sees the promise of slowing down. It argues that the Covid-19 pandemic helps some of us realize in a unique way that our common home is endangered, and the experience of lockdown brings hope that achieving significant changes towards improving the environment could perhaps be realistic. Drawing on essays written by Czech students of social work and theology in spring 2020 and other sources (e.g., Jon Sobrino and Karel Čapek) the article finds possibilities for sharing Christian hope in a world of despair.
