Abstract

A major telecommunications service provider in India required a world-class provisioning solution for the rapid rollout of its nationwide Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) wireless network. To meet this challenge, Lucent Technologies offered its Navis® Wireless Services Activation Manager (WSAM)-based solution as an integral part of the customer's billing and customer care (B&CC) system. Forming a team of solution architects, developers, system testers, integrators, and program managers from its worldwide (United States, China, Belgium, Singapore, and India) team of professionals, Lucent Worldwide Services (LWS) rolled out the offered solution in record time, while working constantly with a divergent group of vendors and partners. This paper describes all aspects of the planning and execution for this provisioning solution in challenging conditions. It also demonstrates how global teams working in close collaboration can achieve very high productivity.
