Abstract

One major limitation in wireless micro-sensor networks (WmSNs in short) is the energy dissipation of sensor nodes and the network lifetime. There are many researches on how to improve energy efficiency for WmSNs, but most of them are concern to different wireless protocols, few of them pay attention to efficient battery recharging technologies. Recently, RF (Radio Frequency) energy transfer has been introduced as an alternative method for powering sensor nodes in WmSNs. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed one novel network framework equipped with energy transfer ability, which comprised of three kinds of sensor nodes: power master, power relay and power slaver. Moreover, we investigated one multi-hop wireless energy transfer algorithm in details. Finally, we proposed the detailed hardware framework of sensor nodes with energy transfer ability. To be our best knowledge, this is the first work designed for novel energy supplement method to sensor nodes in WmSNs.
