Abstract

Robotic arms with varying degrees of freedom are the most prevalent in the manufacturing industry. The main objective of gesture recognition has always been to reduce the barrier between the real and digital worlds. In this paper, the control of a robotic arm using gestures wirelessly is demonstrated. Traditionally, people used flex sensors or accelerometers to recognize gestures and RF Transmitters to accomplish wireless communication. However, with RF Communication, data loss was substantial, and precision was low. This strategy is ineffective for activities that require speed and accuracy. The robot can also be controlled by manually sending the locations. But for that, the robot operator must be technically proficient in using robots and the mathematics behind their operation. Hence, to reduce the cost and ensure accurate control of the robotic arm, Human-computer interaction method for Gesture recognition and Wireless LAN technology for Wireless control of the robotic arm are used. These types of robots are predominantly used in the medical industry to perform high precision Robotic Surgeries.
