Abstract

One of the things that scare helicopter pilots the most is the thought of a collision with wires. It's bad enough that wire strikes are almost always bad news and often fatal. The real issue that gives pilots the creeps is that wires are virtually invisible from the air! They are the original hidden menace, just waiting to reach out and grab you.
