Abstract
The chapter is divided into three distinct sections and is based on a framework presented in Figure 14.1. The first section looks at the causes of seasonality in winter sports destinations – causes that can be attributed to eight factors.The second section of the chapter moves on to discuss the consequences of seasonality for winter sports destinations, both positive and negative.The third and largest part of the chapter is more applied, and shows how winter sport tourism destinations around the world have attempted to cure or alleviate the problems associated with seasonality.
