Abstract
This work presents the design and implementation of a wind turbine simulator to carry out laboratory tests on the generation, regulation, and control of a wind power conversion system (WECS) with a capacity of 3 kW. A three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor emulates the static and dynamic wind turbine characteristics based on the torque-speed profile of a wind turbine. The Emulator allows all electromechanical tests to be carried out, from the characterization of the generator to the adjustment of controls and protections for equipment operating in a specific location. Initial Emulator tests were successful.
