Abstract

An investigation of the action of wind on telegraph and telephone lines is described in the following paper. The results of the tests made during this investigation show that the relation between wind velocity and wind pressure on ice covered conductors conformns closely to the generally accepted formula P = KV 2 . They also indicate that the wires of such lines, when coated with ice, shield each other from the wind, both when carried on the same crossarm and on different arms.
